Glazer House + StudioMcKinney, TX

Architect:

Michael Graves Architects

Constructor:

A weekend house for a Dallas couple. Humble Italian origins in terms of materials and space making. The project utilizes an "L" shaped parti which surrounds an outdoor court complete with a massive fire-pit. The "L" is comprised of a small house with its loft-like sleeping accommodations on one side and a pottery studio on the other. Major materials are concrete block with a cement plaster skin, exposed Douglas Fir framing, cement pavers and cold-rolled steel windows and doors. Humble, simple and direct and still capable of celebrating and horning the simple rituals of daily life.
