The Murray Residence was the first of three Tudor homes that the firm has worked on. The program originally consisted of a wood shop addition but due to an accessory building sir limitation of 750 sf, the new garage and wood shop had to be attached to the home, thereby only having to comply with setback and lot coverage area restrictions. This change in strategy led to additional square footage that included the making of a den adjacent to the garage and a newly renovated and reorganized kitchen. The wood shop was the focus of the work and is equipped with its won bath, mechanical and dust collection systems. North facing monitors and 13 foot ceilings provide an ideal work environment. Stylistically, the addition is dissimilar from the main house, yet it obscures these differences by using matching materials and a similar window system.
